Ben Chapple - Saxophone Tenor

"Ben started playing piano and clarinet at an early age, but soon picked up the sax. As a teenager he started listening to a variety of saxophonists such as Art Pepper, Michael Brecker and Wayne Shorter and was soon playing in his first band, gigging in Bristol and on the South coast.

Over the intervening years he has been instrumental in founding several bands culminating with local jazzfunkmeisters The Bag Ladies...

In addition to playing tenor in The James Goff Band he also plays Alto, Soprano and flute in a number of jazz and function bands. Number one on his list of top bands is, aptly for someone who was a meteorologist in a past life, Weather Report. Ben's favourite note is the dotted quaver!" .
